World War One

The United States joined World War I because of these following reasons, United States civilians were killed at the outset because of the sinking of the Lusitania, and the United States intercepted a message from the Germans who were trying to get the Mexicans to attack us, and the third reason we joined World War I was for economic interests.
Just like most other wars in United States history we had civilians killed at the outset. This time a German submarine caused these deaths, we were on a ship with British civilians as well, so they were also killed. Even though the death tolls were low the Germans did not just blow up this one ship, they blew up several ships. Initially President Wilson did not war but after this escapade he knew that we needed to go because Germany was acting against mankind. If we go to war since all of these world powers are included, we will become a world power as well. Every single war before this United States civilians were killed at the outset of the war, and it happened again so why would we not go to war this time? I believe that it was necessary to go to war because of this because not only did we get revenge for our fallen citizens we helped out other global powers in the war, and some say that the United States joining the first world war was the turning point of the war.
Germany, gives the United States another reason to join the world war by sending the Zimmerman note to Mexico, and the United States intercepted this note. The Zimmerman note says” If this attempt is not successful, we propose an alliance on the following basis with Mexico… Mexico is to reconquer the lost territory in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona.” Germany has already caused our citizens death two years prior, and now they are too coward to come and attack us themselves so they try to get Mexico to do it. I believe that it was necessary that we go to war with Germany because when this note was sent they also said that they would resume submarine attacks. Germany got cocky and said that they would win this war in five months, and took a risk by saying that if they United States joined they wouldn’t make a difference anyway. After Germany insulted our country and threatened war against us, President Wilson went to the congress and only 6 senators and 50 representatives voted against the war. Now on multiple occasions Germany has attacked us verbally, or physically so it is necessary that we went to war and we made them eat their own words and we demilitarized them.
Another reason the United States joined the War was because of economics, when this war started we were in a recession. Even though we were “neutral” in this war at the beginning we were only selling goods to the allied forces, so it is hard to call us neutral. Eventually, when the United States did join the war our national unemployment dropped from 7.9 percent to 1.4 percent. In a four year span from 1914 to 1918 nearly 3 million people were added to our military and half a million to our government. This war really helped us out economically. We went into an economic boom from World War One from all the goods we sold and from winning the war we turned into a global superpower.
I think that it was necessary that we went to World War One. Germany was the main reason we entered the war because they killed us at the outset and they wanted to go to war with us and tried to get Mexico to do their dirty work. Also because of World War one we went into economic prosperity and the roaring twenties started which was a great time.
